Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Skin Brightening Exfoliator

I was first introduced to Kiehl’s Clearly Corrective Skin Brightening Exfoliator when I was searching for a  new exfoliator.  I had been using LUSH’s Ocean Salt Scrub for awhile and even though I loved the smell, I didn’t like how the salt crystals disintegrated so easily.    The “Clearly Corrective” line had just come out recently so it was fairly new and there weren’t that many reviews on it (trust me, I looked!).  I used it every other morning in the shower and at first I thought it was just a big ol’ waste of money.  But then after using about half the bottle I noticed that my skin was so clear and dare I say it… bright!  So after that, I have been hooked ever since.

I do have to mention that I do not have many dark spots on my face other than some freckles so I haven’t noticed if it really reverses noticeable skin discoloration.  I do get acne every so often (ok, every month…) and after using this on a consistent basis I saw that my face was clearer and smoother than normal.  The consistency is like a soft, liquid paste.  I really enjoy the smell of this too – reminds me of a spa.  When you add water, it becomes a nice foam and after rinsing, your face feels so sqeaky clean!  Which is a good thing but a bad thing if you have naturally dry skin.

Final thoughts:  I am on my second bottle… which means that I used up the first bottle and liked it so much I went out and bought another one!  I am a bit picky on consistency and this is the perfect in between.  I like that it doesn’t feel like it’s scratching my skin but at the same time doesn’t disintegrate once it hits water.  The added benefit of it reversing discoloration and brightening my skin is even better!  5/5

Until next time …

MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural

I have been using this product for YEARS!  I literally buy it in bulk so that I don’t have to keep ordering and waiting for it.  The last time I did my bulk buy, they still had the old packaging, so imagine my delight when I found out that the new packaging came with a mirror!  I have always wanted to carry it with me in my handbag for a touch up, but hated that I had to do it mirror-less.

Price $32.00 | MAC

I am Medium in this and typically NC40 in all other MAC face products for reference.  I love how the product blends into my skin and looks natural.  I use the MAC 187 Short Handle (great for travel).  I was suggested this brush a few years ago when I went into the MAC store and have been using it since.  Only drawback is that when I use the 187 brush with this powder, there’s always remnants and it makes me feel like I’m wasting it a bit.  I’ve learned to deal.  If anyone has any tips on this, please leave a comment below!

Final Thoughts:  LOVE this product.  It is the only powder that I use and I love the natural look. I suggest using a brush with it as it helps to not “cake” it on.   Also, the mirror that comes with the compact is AMAZING!  Half point off for wasted powder when using a brush.    4.5/5

Until next time!

Style

Casual Gloom

This past weekend was round #2 of taking photos for this blog.  I decided to wear something not so dark like my first photoshoot and I think it turned out pretty well!

Sweater: Madewell |  Shirt: Zara | Jeans: Rag&Bone | Shoes: Sam Edelman | Handbag: Madewell | Watch: Michael Kors (similar) | Bracelet: David Yurman

I love this sweater – it’s perfect to just throw on and gives that casual chic look.  You’ll probably start to notice after awhile, but I always have basics as my base and then I add on a focus point.  For this outfit, it’s definitely those leopard flats.  They’re so comfortable, I wear them ALL.THE.TIME!

It started sprinkling RIGHT when I got into the car to go home.  Guess mother nature was looking out….

Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Cream

Price: $90.00 | Nordstrom

I have always been a fan of Fresh’s clean look and high quality packaging.  It took some time for me to get used to the scent of some of their products (Soy Cleanser I’m looking at you!), but you do get used to it after awhile.  I somewhat even enjoy the smell of rotten cucumbers now.  Anyhow, I had my eye on their Black Tea Age Delay Face Cream.  Ever since I turned 30 years old, I have been trying out different products to stop any aging that may be occurring on my face.  If I can stop wrinkles before they begin showing up…all the better right?

I tried this out for over a month and I have to say that I really like it. I love the consistency of the face cream.  It’s right in the middle – not too light and not too thick.  When you use your fingers to pick up some cream, you’re able to pick up the right amount.  I know it helps to save money, but sometimes I hate it when the cream is super thick and you only need a tiny dab to cover your whole face.  I just don’t feel like face cream should be like that.  But, this cream definitely gives my skin a nice glow after application which I like.

Final Thoughts:  I really enjoyed this cream.  My face didn’t feel dry and I didn’t notice any new wrinkles (thank goodness!).  I would say that if you’re looking for a mid-priced face cream (and by “mid” I mean between drug store and La Mer/La Prairie/SKII), then this is a good choice.  I didn’t find anything I didn’t like about this … so I’ll give this a 5/5.

Until next time!
