Sunny Sunblock

IMG_2205IMG_2206IMG_2207This review is for my good friend Kathy up in San Francisco!  She asked me to review a sunblock since she has been trying to find the right one and hasn’t had any luck.  Well Kathy, you don’t have to look anymore because here is my favorite face sunblock!  I have tried a few other brands like Neutrogena, Shiseido (which my sister loves & it’s also a good product, but it’s not my cup of tea) and Supergoop! so I have been around the block with face SPF.  Usually I don’t like how my face feels sticky after application, or how my makeup doesn’t blend well.  It’s really quite obnoxious if you need to put something over the SPF.  While I was working at the big fancy back in the day, I heard that Clarins had a great SPF.  I laughed … why would I use Clarins?  I didn’t know anything about the brand and I thought only people my mom’s age used the brand.  Welp… I was wrong.  I actually ended up using the brand for a year but I like to switch things up so I ventured on to other brands.  BUT their products are great.  I’ll do a review on a few of them later on.

Anyway, why do I like this stuff?  If you look at the pictures that I posted of the product on my hand you can see that it’s starting to run down the back of my hand because it’s a bit watery – which is fine.  After rubbing it in a bit, it’s still there.  Then when you rub it in completely you can barely tell that I put anything on.  Notice how the back of my hand isn’t SHINY?  The product actually absorbs really well and my face even feels softer.  It’s perfect for when you have to apply foundation and blush.

Quick tip:  Make sure that you shake the bottle before applying.  The liquid separates and there’s even something inside the bottle to help you mix it up!  One time this lady wanted to return a bottle because she said it was expired.  Nope, you just need to shake it lady.

Final thoughts:  So Kathy – try this stuff out.  I’m pretty sure you will love it as much as I do!  Plus, we’re getting old.  Sun spots are the devil …. 5/5

Runaway Railroad

I always love taking pictures at railroad tracks.  I was even able to see a pretty cool train pass by during the shoot.

Onto the outfit … so this is the first vest that I have ever purchased.  I have always been hesitant to buy one because I’m not quite sure how to wear one.  It was suggested to me by an employee at Anthropologie when I was looking for a jacket for work.  This turned out to be a great option because it’s not always cold in Southern California and it’s great to use as a third piece.  If you haven’t noticed already, I love wearing black pants – I have 3 pairs of these COH.  I need that backup pair in case one starts to fade….  They’re so buttery soft with the right amount of stretch.

It’s so funny how out of all the photos you take, the ones at the end when you’re not even trying are always the best ones.  Story of my life with these photoshoots… haha

Until next time!

I Rose You

Today’s beauty review is on YSL’s Volupte Tint in Oil in No. 4 I Rose You.

I received a sample size of the YSL Volupte Tint in Oil in Cherry My Cherie a few months back.  I loved it so much I went out and splurged on a full size version in a more neutral color.  Don’t get me wrong, the Cherry My Cherie color is beautiful but I like to have a more neutral look on an everyday basis.  I was immediately drawn to the I Rose You shade because I love a nice light pink tint on my lips. The interesting thing about the packaging is the applicator.  It is shaped like lips and is supposed to contour your’s when putting it on.  Easy application!

Price $32.00 | Nordstrom

The consistency is a little sticky and the smell is wonderful!  I always feel like I’m biting into a melon hard candy when I put this on.  It definitely feels moisturizing as you apply it but the only downside… are you ready?  Is that within about an hour, my lips feel dry and I have to slather some on again.  I don’t really get the feeling that the “oil” is still moisturizing my lips even after the product goes away.  However, the stain that it leaves behind (depending on what color you choose and the natural color of your lips) can be quite pretty.

Final thoughts:  Is it worth the $32.00?  Sure if you have some money to spare and really like the stain the products leaves behind on your lips.  It’s YSL – which means it IS a quality product, but personally I don’t think I would purchase this again.  It’s just not to my liking … 3.5/5

Sunday Sunset

I had to work this holiday weekend.  When I left the work event, the sun was starting to set and it was so beautiful.  The light that was caught in the pictures is unbelievable – no filter could ever recreate it.

Top: Madewell (Similar) | Pants: Anthropologie (Similar) | Shoes: Kate Spade | Handbag: Chanel | Sunglasses: Bottega Veneta | Watch: Michael Kors | Bracelet: David Yurman

This is my usual work attire – black skinny ankle work pants and a blouse.  I’m a Southern California girl at heart.  I don’t like to layer and feel constricted so I’m enjoying the warm weather right now.  I love this blouse I got from Madewell.  I can wear it for work or with some ripped jeans for date night.  The back is a little longer than the front which is probably what drew me to this blouse to begin with.  I feel like I hardly ever wear any tops that just go straight across on the bottom anymore.  When I’m out of the office at work events, I’m usually talking to a lot of students and hate leaving my handbag sitting around unattended or weighing me down.  The Chanel Wallet on a Chain (or any crossbody for that matter) works because I almost forget it’s there, yet it holds everything I need.  Plus, since it has that gold chain on the strap it adds something to my outfit, I don’t need to wear a necklace – two birds, one stone.

Hope everyone had a wonderful President’s Day/Valentine’s Day weekend!
