Bite Beauty | The Lip Pencil

I was chosen by Influenster to try out the Bite Beauty VoxBox.  In case you don’t know what Influenster is, it’s actually really cool.  You sign up and it does require a bit of work, but you can get picked to try out new products for free!  I got the Bite Beauty The Lip Pencil.  It’s exclusive to Sephora and was just released on 2.2.17 (also my dad’s birthday – HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!).  I received 2 lip pencils, 2 lipsticks and 1 Sephora pencil sharpener.

I have the Bite Beauty Agave Lip Mask in Champagne and love it, so I was excited to try their new lip pencil.  I did some research on the brand to get more familiar with it.  Turns out that they use food-grade ingredients and some of their products smell good enough to eat!  This definitely intrigued me.  Read on to find out my thoughts on the lip pencils!

Bite Beauty The Lip Pencil 020 Beige Nude| Sephora $18:  This is the PERFECT nude color.  I have to say that this is comparable to my favorite Charlotte Tilbury Lip Liner in Pillow Talk.  The pencil itself is creamy and lightweight. It has shea butter in it!  I did pair this with the Amuse Bouche lipstick that they sent in Honeycomb and it was lovely! AND did you know that their lipsticks are hand made in small batches?  LOVE!

BITE Beauty The Lip Pencil 044 Rich Mahogany | Sephora $18: If you have been reading my blog, you know that I love dark lip colors.  You put it on and look put together – like you spent all day getting ready.  I love it!  When I opened up the box, I thought this was going to be my favorite color of the two pencils. Well, I like both equally.  Don’t hate me ok?  This pencil is super pigmented which is a good thing when using a dark lip pencil.  I was sent the Amuse Bouche lipstick in Whiskey to pair with it, but holy cow!  Whiskey looked almost black on me (it’s supposed to be a Rich Mahogany with Red). The lip pencil itself is beautiful alone, which is how I wore it.  Doing this actually really impressed me with how nice the lip pencil is.  Lipstick is not needed.  LOVE!

Final thoughts?  I need to head over to Sephora to look at the other colors in person.  For being brand new, this product is really great.  I would just be careful to now throw it in your big handbag (or mine).  I did that and the cap fell off…of both pencils.  You do NOT want Rich Mahogany all over the place.  Other than that, this lip pencil is great.  I highly recommend it!

*I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster and Bite Beauty*

LATHER Lavender Love

In case you couldn’t tell, this post is about how much I love the smell of lavender.  It’s one of my top 3 favorite scents of all time. Plus the fact that it helps to relax you doesn’t hurt either.  LATHER does lavender products right and is my go-to for body products.  I have been buying their products for years so I was super excited when LATHER  reached out to me and sent me a few products.

I am a teeth grinder and clencher.  This is something that I have been dealing with for a long time, but more so recently in the past year.  I wear a night guard but sometimes that doesn’t seem to be enough.  I started looking into essential oils and aromatherapy.  LATHER uses high-quality natural ingredients and essential oils in their products. It’s also free of parabens, sulfates, mineral oil and synthetic fragrance and colors.  Part of their mission is to care for the skin and the mind of their customers with their products.  Once I read this, I loved this brand even more!

Sofian Lavender Whipped Body Creme | LATHER $22:  This stuff is heavenly, it’s Bulgarian lavender and smells amazing!  I love a good whipped cream.  I slather this stuff on after I shower and before going to bed.  It makes my skin so soft.

Lavender Candle | LATHER $10:  I love burning candles in the Winter.  It’s cold, I’m snuggling up in my blankets, drinking a nice cup of Earl Grey and the next best thing is to have a nice smelling candle burning.  Personally I like the smell of essential oils.  Sometimes you get a candle and it smells too sweet and fake.  Does that make sense? That’s not my cup of tea.  I like things to be more natural and this candle is a good one!  I do wish the size was bigger, but I noticed that they came out with a new one that is almost twice as big!  Win!

Lavender Lime Moisturizer | LATHER $18:  I received this as a gift for my birthday many many years ago and I always remembered how much I loved the smell.  The lime is a surprising twist that actually works well with the lavender scent.  I love putting this on my desk at work.  I use it when my hands are dry and also when I need some relaxation after counseling students.  If you work in education – you know what I mean!

What’s the takeaway from this post?  Lavender and essential oils are not the cure all for my teeth grinding and clenching but it does relax me at night before going to bed.  I do put some lotion around my neck and along my jaw so that I am able to smell it while I sleep.  That part of my life is a work in progress but I have to say – these products smell heavenly.  If you love the natural smell of lavender – you need to try LATHER.
